Chocolate Chips

I really need to stop looking at Chocolate Covered Katie’s blog. I simply must make everything from it! I’ve never made chocolate, much less vegan chocolate, so I had to try this recipe. Overall, I think it’s very good. My friend (who LOVES chocolate) even gave me a 10/10!

Hot Chocolate Chips (gluten-free)

Or you can make bars!

  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons unrefined coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup agave or use NuNatural vanilla stevia drops (I use 10 drops. Triple or quadruple that amount if you don’t like extra-bitter chocolate.)
  • optional: extracts, cocoa nibs, or other add-ins
Melt coconut oil, then add agave or stevia drops. Stir, then add cocoa powder (and add 3-4 T water or nondairy milk if using stevia.). Stir stir stir! Stir until it gets thick. Pour into any flat container (or candy molds or smush between layers of wax paper or in ziploc bags). Fridge or freeze until solid. There’s your chocolate bars. To become chocolate chips, chop up into smaller pieces.

You guys may know how much I love Katie

Nutritional Info (for 2 T): 100 calories (with the vanilla drops) 10 grams fat 0 grams added sugars

Or, if you make the recipe into bars, each 30g bar will have 100 calories (stevia version) or 140 calories (agave version).
